RASOS Described as Successful Regional Approach to Safety Oversight in ICAO Magazine Article

Issue No. 1 2006 of the ICAO Magazine contains an article on regional approaches to safety oversight around the world. RASOS is described in the article as a successful organization that is going to evolve to a higher level as a CARICOM Institution.

The ACAAC-RASOS Chairman and the Coordinator were in attendance at the historic ICAO DGCA Conference in Montreal March 20-22 at which the Conference recommended higher transparency in all issues related to aviation safety and sharing of information among States. ACAAC-RASOS provided Information Paper 18 updating the Conference on its progress from 2001 to 2006.

It is clear that the focus of civil aviation worldwide will now be on the ICAO USOAP and on implementation of Safety Management Systems. ACAAC-RASOS will be working with its Members to develop a regional safety management system including regional reporting mechanisms.
