RASOS Aerodrome Manual Seminar
(September-05-07)

RASOS, assisted by the JCAA, Barbados CAD and the FAA delivered a seminar Aug 28-30 in Barbados aimed at training persons from RASOS Member states' aerodromes on the requirements for development of an approved aerodrome manual and the contents of the manual as a part of the ICAO requirement for certification of international aerodromes. Thirty-three persons attended the extremely busy three day seminar which was highly praised by the participants for its timeliness, content of the subject matter and the delivery of the material. Those attending came from St. Lucia, Dominica, Jamaica, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, Suriname, Haiti, Antigua, Grenada, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Anguilla, Mustique and St. Kitts.

RASOS will endeavour to offer more specialist courses for its aerodrome operators and has been offered some technical lecturer assistance in specialist areas by the FAA and ICAO, both organizations having stated their readiness to assist in this important safety related area. RASOS also encourages the development of course presenter expertise in the region and looks forward to its efforts succeeding in creating a greater degree of self sufficiency in such training in the region in the future. More will be printed on such new training initiatives as the additional training possibilities are reallized.
