RASOS and ICAO Present ECCAIRS Training in Region
(November-22-07) From November 19 to 23, 2007, the RASOS sponsored and JCAA hosted an ICAO technical team presenting the initial ECCAIRS system operator and administrator training to RASOS Member CAAs.
A total of 22 persons attended the training, representing the Barbados CAD, Haiti OFNAC, Jamaica CAA, Eastern Caribbean CAA (OECS), Suriname CASAS, and Trinidad and Tobago CAA.
The training enabled the participants to become qualified to use and to administer the European Coordination Center for Aviation Incidents' Reporting System (ECCAIRS), which feeds directly into the ICAO ADREP system.
The course filled a significant need for the development of a reporting system to serve as the basic foundation for the needs of the Regional Safety Management System and will enable the Members to link with the worldwide safety occurence database contained in the ECCAIRS system.
Thanks go to Mr. Olivier Ferrante of the French BEA, and to Mr. Jarmo Korhonen and Mr. Tom Mistos of ICAO Air Navigation Bureau for the excellent training.
RASOS will investigate the possibility of running a similar course for its Members' ATM personnel in 2008. Trinidad and Tobago CAA has already volunteered to host the course. |
